Describe the process of fertilization in human beings.

Fertilization:

Fertilization is defined as the union of two gametes.

Process of fertilization:

1. The sperm are ejected from the male reproductive organ called the penis.
2. The sperm enters the female body through her reproductive organ (vagina).
3. Then the sperm travels through the uterus and fallopian tube.
4. In the fallopian tube, it meets the egg produced by the female organs.
5. So fertilization takes place in fallopian tubes.
6. Fertilization results in the formation of a zygote which develops into an embryo.
7. The zygote is the beginning of a new individual.
