Answer:

Araiyar was a title who was a Chief in the Chola empire. During the rule of Chola Kings, some landowners who were very wealthy were given important offices of the State at the Centre. This was done as a mark of respect by the Chola King towards these wealthy landowners. 

Muvendavelan was another important title given during the Chola empire. Under the supervision of the Central Chola Government, rich peasants belonging to the Vellala caste had a lot of control over the affairs of the state.
