RRB NTPC Exam Pattern

The railway board mentions the examination pattern and syllabus of the Non-Technical and Popular Category Exam and various other RRB exams in detail in the official notification. *Note: The typing test is only applicable to the candidates who have applied for the posts of Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper and the negative marking will deduct about 1/3rd marks from the total.

The Railway Board has revised the formula for the Normalization of marks for the score calculation of the candidate’s final marks. The Notice released by the RRB for the revised formula is as mentioned below-

Typing Test for RRB NTPC Exam

The typing test for the RRB NTPC Exam is a skill-based exam which is of qualifying nature and thus will not be counted towards the final merit list. The test is conducted for the following posts:

  • Senior Clerk cum Typist
  • Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist
  • Senior Time Keeper
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist
  • Accounts Clerk cum Typist
  • Junior Time Keeper

Other important points to keep in mind for the skill test are as follows:

  • The typing test shall be conducted for the number of candidates equal to eight times the number of vacancies.
  • The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a personal computer without the aid of any editing and spell checking tools.

RRB NTPC Exam – Medical Examination Phase

Candidates will have to pass requisite physical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that they are medically fit to carry out duties connected to the post opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of medical fitness of railway staff.

RRB NTPC Exam – Document Verification Page

Based on the performance of candidates in 2nd Stage CBT and based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd Stage CBT and CBAT/TST (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification.

Also, candidates equal to 50% (may increase or decrease at the sole discretion of RRBs) of the number of vacancies for various posts will be called for document verification.
